    From yoga to canine gift baskets, the pet business is booming in the Madison area, producing more advertisers for Amy Arzamendi. "I think there's a huge amount of growth probably because people are living in smaller families and the pets are becoming their families," said Arzamendi, publisher of the Madison Area Pet Owners Guide. "People are just willing to spend more money." She said some of the fastest growth has occurred in luxury kennels and animal salons, dog training facilities and doggie day-care businesses.

    Pet services also are multiplying. Dr. Julie Kaufman, a Madison area animal chiropractor, offers JointYoga for pets, which uses acupuncture, creative visualization and massage for animals and their owners.

    Dr. Lisa DeMumbrum, a veterinarian, started Paws & Claws, a Madison mobile veterinary service, in June, bringing her veterinary clinic on wheels to her patients. "People who call me are very happy to get somebody to come to them," she said, adding that clients include older or disabled pet owners, busy people with multiple pets or owners of pets that don't travel well. Her clinic includes both an exam room and a surgery room.
